It’s spring and that means it’s time’s for golf’s marquee event – The Masters.

The NFL has the Super Bowl, MLB has the World Series, tennis has Wimbledon and golf has The Masters.

This week the writers’ task was to pick who will win this weekend’s Masters and explain why.

There was consenus amongst all the writers – they all chose Tiger Woods.

Adam already broke down the entire Masters, so he won’t be taking part in this, but be sure to check out his thoughts.

Kimani:  I’m going with the odd makers’ favorite: Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods is back as the number one player in the world. He’s already won 3 tournaments in 2013 (out of 5 tournaments played) so you know that not only is he playing well (and winning) again but that his confidence is back. It also helps that Tiger is physically healthy again (I think that more than anything else has hurt his game the past few years). Finally I just believe that it’s time! Seven years is a long time for someone whose game is built for Augusta (length off the tee, great short game, great putting).

Sammie:  I think Tiger Woods will win the Masters because he’s the best under pressure especially if he plays well early. Once Tiger gets a lead its really hard for the competition to come back. Tiger seems to get better if he starts out strong and continues to add to the lead. Right now, Tiger is playing very well this season. It’s been eight years since Tiger has won the Maters and he’s overdue it seems. He is one again ranked number one up from as low as 58th two years ago, since his Thanksgiving marriage debacle, Coming off of a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational will help Tiger get his next major in Augusta at the Masters, I have Tiger finishing -7.

Rich:  The choice has to be Tiger.  It appears that he is finally on the right track professionally since the “incident” a couple of years ago.  While it’s always hard to pick the favorite going into a golf event – the sheer numbers of players involved always makes it seem like the odds are better than someone from the “field” will win it, I just can’t pick against Tiger in this one.  He will get his 15th Major win and be one step closer to Jack.
